In response to the worldwide prevalence of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, Neurodegenerative diseases to state a few; the pharmaceutical industry has seen a record number of experimental drugs go into development for potential treatment. However, the failure rates of such experimental drugs remain high due to the complexity of the disease, common side effects, and regulatory hurdles. It is clear from the recent examples that an important challenge is drug design that not only targets clinical trials to meet clinical efficacy, but also prevent severe side effects, for example in case of diabetes; cardiovascular safety is required.
SBP, a subsidiary of Surya Pharmaceutical Ltd, India will be developing nutraceutical products for a number of these chronic diseases that have no effective treatment available in the market. Initially SBP product development will target Diabetes, Neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's, Cancer and Cardiovascular diseases. SBP will combine knowledge and expertise in the Ayurvedic system tried for thousands of years in India along with the rigorous experimental knowledge based upon both pre-clinical and clinical studies. SBP will also focus on generating IP positions in these areas for the nutraceuticals. In a long-term goal, SBP will also undertake research and development for drug discovery/development program for the above-mentioned diseases.
SBP R&D Laboratory is fully equipped for carrying out several cellular, molecular, and genetic approaches required for the development of nutraceuticals. SBP will also coordinate analytical, manufacturing and formulation work with GMP facilities at Surya's Advanced Research Centre, in India.
Surya Biopharma shall be acting as contact point for CRAMS (Contract Research and Manufacturing services) business carrying out the initial trails and bench work in USA combining kilo, Pilot and large scale manufacturing in India, Carrying the India advantage of low cost, high tech large volume manufacturing in cGMP conditions.
Surya's CRAMS business can offer a wholesome and lucrative deal of Custom synthesis, Analytical Development, Formulation Development and cGMP manufacturing for pivotal, clinical and large scale manufacturing requirements. |
